Practical Beekeeper Standard · Programme

A practical pathway built around real colony management.

The BeeEducated Practical Beekeeper Programme is designed to develop and evidence occupational competence over approximately 14–36 months, depending on experience, opportunity and seasonal evidence.

Learn

Structured theory supports practical work without turning the programme into an exam-led course.

Practise with support

Learners nominate a mentor or practical partner who can support development, evidence planning and authentic practice.

Evidence competence

Evidence comes from genuine inspections, management activities, records, media, products and professional discussion.

Purposeful evidence

Designed around what competent beekeepers actually do.

The programme is built around inspections, decision-making, seasonal work, colony interventions and reflective review, so evidence remains tied to genuine beekeeping activity rather than artificial tasks.

  • Longitudinal evidence across time and seasons
  • Mentor-supported but candidate-owned evidence
  • Clear progression towards gateway and EPA
