BeeEducated Standards describe the competence a beekeeper should be able to demonstrate in real practice. The family begins with the Practical Beekeeper Standard and is designed to grow with a beekeeper’s experience.
Practical Beekeeper Standard
Foundation competence in colony management, health, biosecurity, seasonal decisions and responsible evidence-led practice.
Professional Beekeeper Standard
Developing professional-level competence beyond the foundation Standard.
Queen Rearing & Breeding Standard
Developing specialist competence in queen production, selection, breeding decisions and introduction.
Honey Bee Health & Biosecurity Standard
Developing advanced competence in colony health, investigation, biosecurity and escalation.
Honey Production & Processing Standard
Developing competence across crop management, hygienic harvesting, processing, storage and sale.
Standards that are maintained, not left behind
BeeEducated intends to keep its Standards under controlled review. Where an update changes knowledge only, an Update CPD activity may be sufficient. Where a material change affects practical competence, a Competence Update can reopen the affected KSB so additional real-world evidence can be gathered and assessed.
Why maintain a Standard?
Beekeeping practice, evidence, disease risks and statutory responsibilities can change. A live standards model allows development to continue after initial certification while preserving the permanent record of what a beekeeper has already achieved.
